Which Shevlin Park trails are easy? The gentlest choice is the one-mile interpretive loop that starts at Fremont Meadow. The Tumalo Creek Trail is a longer creekside walk you can turn around on whenever you like. The 6-mile Loop Trail is the longest and has a few short, steep hills. All three details come from Bend Park and Recreation District.

Where is Shevlin Park?

Shevlin Park sits on the west edge of Bend along Tumalo Creek. It is a large forested park run by Bend Park and Recreation District, with ponderosa pine, a creek canyon and several trails that link together.

What is the easiest walk in Shevlin Park?

The district publishes a one-mile interpretive trail loop that starts at Fremont Meadow. It is the shortest marked loop in the park, which makes it a good pick for a first visit, a slow pace or a short outing with visiting family.

How long is the Tumalo Creek Trail?

Bend Park and Recreation District lists the Tumalo Creek Trail at 2.5 miles. It follows the creek upstream from the park entrance to the park's southern end. Because it is an out-and-back walk, you choose your own distance: walk as far as feels good, then turn around.

Is the Shevlin Park Loop Trail hard?

It is longer, not technical. The district describes a 6-mile loop that follows the canyon rim through old-growth ponderosa pine, includes a few short, steep hills and crosses Tumalo Creek twice. If you want an easy day, save the full loop for later and start with the interpretive loop or the creek trail.

What should you bring?

Water, layers and good shoes. Central Oregon mornings can be cold even when afternoons are warm, and the high desert air dries you out faster than people expect. Check the park page for current conditions, closures and rules before you go.
